Barbara had three children. The eldest, Danielle, passed away in an auto accident, at almost 17 years of age, on August 18, 1995. Shelly lives with her husband, Ben, and Barb's grandson, Phenix, in Arlington. Brandon, her son and his dog, Bart, live with us in Fort Worth.
I met Barb, the love of my life, in the summer of 2000. We married July 1, 2001.
I became a very conservative Christian from a little church that helped me out in the late 90's before I met Barbara. Then I wrote a book about becoming a Christian and in that book I called Barbara a "hippie on steroids." She is bubbly, high energy, gregarious, loves to be the life of the party, and yet fiercely independent. She is both family oriented and generous, loving her siblings, children, and grandson above reproach. She loves to do activities with them. Her entire family enjoys cooking. They learned from her dad; but her mom made the best cinnamon rolls ever. She has fond memories of dinners around the table with her entire family growing up. Like her dad, she never met a stranger. This is why the sign behind her says it all about her personality: "Everyone has a seat at the table." Her parents deceased now, she was raised in El Paso, Texas in a liberal minded church, but her entire family went to church together regularly. We both started an in-depth Bible Study in 2003 where she was hoping that I would become more "open minded." We laugh today -- as she was the one who became more biblical aware and more conservative. She leads a bible study today on Zoom and it's the light and joy of her life.
